WHAT IS AUTISM?

  • Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disability characterized by social, communication, and cognitive impairments. Students with autism often have trouble understanding and interpreting the social interaction and relationships around them, particularly in higher education settings.
  • It’s important to remember that each student with autism will have different strengths and abilities they bring to the educational environment and classroom.
